Replacing Stubbornness and Rebellion with Brokenness

Put Off--Stubbornness and Rebellion

1 Samuel 15:23  For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.  And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.  Because you have rejected the Word of he Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.

Put On-Brokenness

Romans 6:2313  And do not present your numbers as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Any time when I have the chance to pick up the Bible to read God's word and I chose not to do it, it is considered to be stubbornness.  I am refusing to read His word and I am rejecting God.  Even if it is something "innocent" where I want to watch a show on television and put off reading the Bible until a more convenient time, I am still turning my back on God.

This is from http://womanofgod.com-prayer-against-stubborness.  (This is a type of prayer that you can actually pray for any type of situation that you are facing and can be used for each of these put offs.)

Heavenly father, I thank you for always helping me become a better person.

The Christian walk is difficult but you help me make it one day at a time.

You sanctify me daily so I may be more like Christ.

Today I ask you to help me stop struggling with selfishness.  I have tried dealing it with my strength and failed.

I ask you to help me obey your commands so I can live a victorious life.

Many times I want to do things my ways and not yours and that is not your will for me.

It is a sinful attitude and I ask you to help me deal with it.  I want my ways and thoughts to align with yours which are higher than mine.

Help me abandon my way of doing thins and trade it with yours.

Your way is perfect and you are the one who makes my way perfect.  Forgive me for when I think my way is better than yours and follow through with it.

Pardon me for disregarding your voice guiding me on the right path to take.  I thank you because when I repent you are faithful to forgive me.

May your Holy Spirit work in my heart and help me let go of my stubborn ways.

I don't want to continue insisting on doing things the way I please because it never leads me anywhere good.

Heal and wounds in my heart that cause me to be stubborn.  Help me yield to your spirit who will help me do what you want me to do.

Remind me everyday that your divine wisdom is greater than my limited human wisdom.

Amen
