15. but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
16. because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."
What instructions does Peter give those awaiting Christ's return?
Keep my focus on Christ and not on the world and worldly possessions..
Question 7. Why are we to be holy? How are we to show it?
We are to display holiness by our actions.
An excellent way to do this is with each action I do or about to do, is ask myself is this something that Jesus would do.
I must also be willing to cooperate with God in order to be holy, by obeying all his commandments and laws.
Question 8. What type of language-passive or active-is used in 1 Peter 1:13-16? What does that tell you about holiness?
In my opinion it is active because it is telling us what to do, especially the last verse "Be Holy."
For me to be holy, I must become active in taking the correct actions. These include:
Keeping myself pure
Being awake in righteousness
Departing from iniquity
Abhorring what is evil
Cleansing myself
The following verses support this:
1 Timothy 5:22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins: keep yourself pure.
1 Corinthians 15:34 "Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame."
2 Timothy "Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having the seal: "The Lord knows those who are His" and "Let everyone who names the name of Christ from iniquity."
Romans 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Question 9.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
23. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
How do these verses give you hope in relation to the process of your situation? Hopeful indeed.
I have come a far way.
I am resting in the peace of God.
I am looking up.
God is my hiding place.
He protects me from the enemy.
He gives me Spiritual Ears
So I can listen carefully.
He surrounds me with songs.
He delivers me.
I kneel on my knees
In honor of God.
I am a deputy of his splendor.
I am humbled.
God walks with me
On the road to freedom.
