Replacing Influence of Ungodly Friends and Following the Crowd with Godly Friends and Fear of the Lord

Put Off-Ungodly Friends

Psalm 1:1

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

Hebrews 1:10
My son, if sinners entice you
Do not consent.

Put On-Godly Friends

Proverbs 13:20

He who walks with wise men will be wise,
But the companion of fools will be destroyed.

Proverbs 3:7

Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

Have you ever heard the term "if you have a friend like that, you don't need enemies?"  That is so true.  Friends can have a negative influence on you.  You might be talked into doing things that you normally would not do.  That is why as a Christian you should not make friends with non-Christians.  They may influence you into turning your back on God.

But does that mean you should avoid non-Christians altogether?  How are you to witness to them?  The first thing is to pray to God for guidance and to pray for the non-Christians.  When witnessing-or trying to witness-look for nonverbal signs from the person.  If he appears to show signs of discomfort, he may not be ready to listen.  You can give him tracts to read and your email if he is ready in the future.  If the person is openly mocking your faith it is best to avoid him since he has already hardened his heart against God.

This is an excellent prayer if you are looking to make new friends and want to choose wisely of who your friends are and it comes from this website:  https://prayers.org/2017/03/to-choose-godly-friends/

Father, help me to meet new friends—friends who will encourage me. May I find in these friendships the companionship and fellowship You have ordained for me. I know that You are my Source of love, companionship, and friendship. Your love and friendship are expressed through my relationship with You and members of the Body of Christ.
According to Proverbs 27:17 cev, as iron sharpens iron, so friends sharpen the minds of each other. As we learn from each other, may we find a worthy purpose in our relationship. Keep me well-balanced in my friendships, so that I will always please You rather than pleasing other people.
I ask for divine connections—good friendships ordained by You. Thank You for the courage and grace to let go of detrimental friendships. I ask and receive, by faith, discernment for developing healthy relationships. Your Word says that two are better than one, because if one falls, there will be someone to lift that person up.
Father, You know the hearts of people, so I won’t be deceived by outward appearances. Bad friendships corrupt good morals. Thank You for quality friends who help me build a stronger character and draw me closer to You. Help me be a friend to others and to love my friends at all times. I will laugh with those who laugh, I will rejoice with those who rejoice, and I will weep with those who weep. Teach me what I need to know to be a quality friend.
Develop in me a fun personality and a good sense of humor. Help me to relax around people and to be myself—the person You created me to be. Instruct my heart and mold my character, that I may be faithful and trustworthy over the friendships You are sending into my life.
Father, Your Son, Jesus, is my best Friend. He is a Friend Who sticks closer than a brother. He defined the standard when He said in John 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Thank You, Lord, that I can entrust myself and my need for friends into Your keeping. I submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
