Replacing Sexual Sin with Sexual Purity

Put Off-Sexual Sin, Fornication, Lust, Adultery, Pornography, Immodest Dress, Flirtation and Worldly Entertainment 

1 Thessalonians 4:7  For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.

1 Corinthians 6:18  Flee sexual immorality.  Every sin that a man does is outside his body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

1 Peter 2:11  Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which was against the soul

Matthew 5:27-28

27.  "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'you shall not commit adultery.'

28.  But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Psalm 101:3

I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;

I hate the work of those who fall away;

Put On-Sexual Purity, Abstinence, Pure Desires, Marital Fidelity, Pure Thoughts, Modesty, Gentle and Quiet Spirit and Spiritual pursuits

1 Thessalonians 4:4  That each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.

1 Thessalonians 4:3  For this is the will of God, your sanctification:  that you should abstain from sexual immorality.

Titus 2:12  Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.

Proverbs 5:20

For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman,

And be embraced in the arms of a seductress?

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.

1 Timothy 2:9  In like matter also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing.

I Peter 3:4  Do not let your adornment be merely outwardly-arranging your hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel-rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

Galatians 5:16  I say then:  walk in the spirit, and you should not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

It is very cut and dry.  People should refrain from having sexual encounters until after they are married.  However, it goes deeper than just being faithful to your spouse.  It is a sin to look at a people of the opposite sex and admire them for their looks.  While it might seem innocent and you are only looking and not even thinking about sexual desire, you still may be lusting in your heart.  You need to pray to God and allow him to convict your heart if you are looking inappropriately. 

If you do not watch X-rated movies or read adult magazines, you may still be involved in pornography.  Take a look at what books and magazines you are reading and what television shows you are watching.  When I was in college, I used to read Danielle Steele novels.  Most of them have sexual encounters between the main characters.  Thankfully, I grew tired of the books and stopped reading them.

One television show I stopped watching is "Orange is the New Black."  It could have made an excellent series if there was less-and even no-sex scenes.  A basic rule of thumb is if it makes you uncomfortable, then stop reading or watching it.

It is best to avoid flirtation altogether.  While some people may do it as innocent play, it is sending the wrong message to other people.  For example, another person may take you seriously and he may get sinful desires and lusts and be tempted to sexually sin against God.  That is the same for wearing the wrong types of clothes.  I, for one, do not like wearing any types of shirts that are revealing or see through.
